FT103 Japanese Standard Thread Straight Flute Tap

JIS B 0201 Japanese

HSS / HSS-E / HSS-E-PM / VHMTiCN coatingInternal coolant

The FT103 is a professional-grade straight flute tap designed for Japanese thread tapping. Its excellent chip removal performance, high hardness and wear resistance, and machining efficiency make it particularly suitable for threading high-strength, difficult-to-machine materials. It not only significantly improves machining efficiency and quality but also reduces machining failures and tool wear. Carbide straight flute thread taps are high-performance tapping tools combining carbide materials and composite coating technology. They are widely used in efficient, high-precision thread machining, especially in scenarios involving difficult-to-machine materials and high-strength workpieces. They perform exceptionally well in efficient machining and complex materials. Carbide taps can easily machine difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloys, and nickel-based alloys, maintaining high efficiency and high quality.

Engineering Features

Design details engineered for accuracy, tool life and process stability.

JIS B 0201 Standard Japanese Thread Profile

High-precision thread grinding ensures thread profile accuracy within ±0.01mm, and thread surface finish below Ra0.4μm, guaranteeing JIS standard thread connection accuracy.

Multiple Coating Options

TiAlN, TiCN, TAD, TiN, DLC, and other coatings are available, with a maximum hardness of HV3400 and a friction coefficient as low as 0.15. Tool life is extended by 2-3 times compared to uncoated taps.

Carbide (FAX/VHM) Substrate

Ultra-fine grain carbide substrate with a hardness of HRC65, offering 50% improved chipping resistance, suitable for tapping difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel and high-hardness steel.

Carbide straight flute taps hold a vital position in modern manufacturing due to their advantages such as high-quality thread formation, enhanced strength, long tool life, and chip-free machining. They are particularly advantageous in scenarios requiring high efficiency, environmental friendliness, and high precision machining.

Straight flute taps typically feature higher manufacturing precision to ensure tight tolerances and thread quality even at minute dimensions.

Carbide taps can easily machine difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloys, and nickel-based alloys, maintaining high efficiency and quality.

The high rigidity of carbide materials and the auxiliary cooling technology of internal cooling technology reduce the risk of tap breakage due to thermal fatigue or chip clogging.

Optimized cutting edge sharpness and an internal cooling system provide excellent lubrication and cooling conditions, ensuring a burr-free thread surface and high smoothness.

Applications

Straight flute metric thread taps are suitable for the following applications.

Aerospace

Machining threads on high-strength materials such as titanium alloys and nickel-based alloys.

Automotive Industry

Suitable for efficient thread machining of high-strength steel parts.

Mold Manufacturing

Suitable for thread forming of hard mold materials.

Medical Devices

Suitable for machining precision parts made of stainless steel and high-temperature alloys.
