Brazed Cermet R-Type – Finishing

The SDC10-3 cavity tool is a specialized reamer for cartridge valve manifolds. It is a high-precision cutting tool designed for machining bores in hydraulic cartridge valve manifolds, primarily used to enhance dimensional accuracy, geometric precision, and surface finish for multi-diameter holes. Used for the precision machining of cartridge cavities in Danfoss Hydraulics valve blocks, including the reaming of guide bores, fluid passages, and valve seat bores. It ensures high dimensional accuracy, meeting the hydraulic system's stringent requirements for sealing and functionality. Suitable for various applications: A single tool body accommodates different diameters, enabling the efficient, precision reaming of multiple hole sizes. Thanks to the brazed cermet cutting inserts, wear is minimized, resulting in an extended service life. Cavity tool types: HSS (Type A) / Morse taper shank (Type B) / Carbide (Type C) / Indexable insert (Type D) / Brazed tip (Type E) / Brazed cermet (Type R) / Brazed PCD (Type F).

Engineering Features

Design details engineered for accuracy, tool life and process stability.

Long service life

Thanks to their excellent wear and heat resistance, welded cermet reamers offer a longer service life than traditional tools, reducing the frequency and cost of replacements.

High hardness and wear resistance

Cermet materials possess extremely high hardness and wear resistance, enabling them to maintain excellent cutting performance in high-stress and high-temperature environments.

High-temperature stability

Cermets retain their physical and chemical properties at high temperatures, making them suitable for machining superalloys and other difficult-to-machine materials.

The SDC10-3 D4102 welded cermet cavity tool maintains stable cutting performance over extended periods thanks to its precision design and high-performance materials, thereby enhancing machining accuracy and extending tool life.

The SDC10-3 D4102 complies with Danfoss Hydraulics cartridge valve standards—covering control valves, distribution valves, relief valves, directional valves, and more—and features a valve body made of heat-treated alloy steel with a hardness exceeding HRC 35.

Compared to solid carbide cavity tools, this type offers superior wear resistance and supports higher speeds and feed rates; the resulting hole surface roughness typically reaches Ra 0.4 or lower, meeting the stringent sealing requirements of hydraulic components.

Applications

Typical industries and parts machined with this tool.

Fluid control equipment

Used in the machining of various valve bodies and valve seats to ensure smooth fluid flow and sealing performance.

Hydraulic Valve Block Machining

Used for machining cartridge valve cavities in hydraulic valve blocks, ensuring dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Automotive Manufacturing

Used in the machining of components for hydraulic control systems in engines and transmissions.

Aerospace

In the aerospace sector, used for machining high-precision components for hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
