Indexable reamer Series · Roughing
C16-3 Hydraulic Cartridge Valve Cavity Reamer | A high-precision cutting tool designed for machining cavities in hydraulic cartridge valve blocks for Size 16, 3-way valves; primarily used to enhance the dimensional accuracy, geometric precision, and surface finish of multi-diameter bores. Used for the precision machining of cartridge cavities in Parker Hannifin hydraulic valve blocks, including the reaming of guide bores, fluid passages, and valve seat bores. It ensures high dimensional accuracy, meeting the hydraulic system's stringent requirements for sealing and functionality. Suitable for various applications: A single tool body accommodates different diameters, enabling the efficient, precision reaming of multiple hole sizes. Thanks to the brazed cermet cutting inserts, wear is minimized, resulting in an extended service life. Cavity tool types: HSS (Type A) / Morse taper shank (Type B) / Carbide (Type C) / Indexable insert (Type D) / Brazed tip (Type E) / Brazed cermet (Type R) / Brazed PCD (Type F).

Design details engineered for accuracy, tool life and process stability.
Thanks to the indexable inserts, the cutting edge is resistant to chipping during interrupted cuts, and the tool body offers greater stability, minimizing vibration. It is particularly well-suited for machining cast surfaces, porous materials, and non-homogeneous materials.
Each insert features multiple cutting edges; when an edge wears, the insert can simply be indexed to a new position. The tool body offers a long service life, reducing tooling costs per valve body by 30–50%.
Various design options are available, including extended tool bodies, internal cooling, and vibration-damping structures. After an insert change, dimensional accuracy is restored to that of a new tool.
The C16-3 D3100 indexable pocketing tool features a repeatable indexable design that delivers high material removal rates and strong impact resistance. With inserts that can be indexed multiple times for reuse, it is particularly well-suited for castings and heavy-stock removal applications, significantly reducing the cost per part.
The C16-3 D3100 complies with Parker Hannifin's cartridge valve technology standards—covering control valves, distribution valves, relief valves, directional valves, and more—and is suitable for valve bodies made of heat-treated alloy steel with a hardness exceeding HRC 35.
Compared to solid carbide cavity tools, this system offers superior wear resistance and supports higher speeds and feeds. It features inserts with negative rake angles or reinforced edge geometries, along with a highly rigid, integral tool body structure. When an insert wears out, it can simply be indexed to a new position.
